“As the Director of Training and Development for a productivity consulting company in Denver, Colorado I am always hard at work teaching our new consultants the skills they need to be successful. The path is not an easy one for them and they spend over 70 days preparing to support our customers with productivity solutions that create sustainable culture change. When I was thinking about rewarding the new recruits for their hard work, I was challenged to figure out what type of gift (other than money) would show my appreciation for their efforts, celebrate their accomplishments, and be a long-lasting memorial. “A plaque or trophy is nice, but not very unique, and rarely are they something one wants to display anywhere but on a shelf in their offices. We thought of perhaps hiring a calligrapher to write a poem or word for each of them. This was a great idea but relied heavily on my ability to write something that would be meaningful to each individual and would be worthy of framing. (more)

“When we decided on a custom painting, it was a matter of finding an artist’s work that we liked for this type of award. Then we had to discuss customizing each painting to the individual consultant being honored, and finally, come to terms with the cost for this project. Of course, artists rarely work with a deadline and that was a hurdle to get over too. (more)

“Working with Wynne was amazingly easy and fun. She is very creative and handled all of our requests with amazing grace. She worked with me on how we were going to customize each painting. Eventually deciding that a single word, like “mastery” would be incorporated into the design of each painting matching the painting with the consultant. The project came out better than I could have imagined. We received the 5 paintings, each unique, beautiful, and suited to the personalities of each consultant. The paintings were so well received by each consultant that we are definitely going to use Wynne again for future projects. We realize she will be more expensive going forward and it is well worth it. (more)

“In fact, every one of our senior and executive consultants, who never were part of a formal training program and never received any awards for their efforts, all wanted a painting too. ‘What do I have to do to get a painting?’ one of them asked.”
